Our story

Beyond Herba began with a simple frustration: most of what is sold as "wild" honey in India is neither wild nor especially honest about it.

Wild honey is not farmed. It is gathered — by people who know a particular stretch of forest well enough to find the colonies, in a season that lasts weeks rather than months. That knowledge is real and specific, and it belongs to the gatherers. We buy from them directly rather than through the layers of aggregation that usually sit between a forest and a jar.

The rest of the range came from the same instinct. The traditional Indian apothecary — gond katira, babul gond, chirata, arjun chaal — is still mostly sold loose and unbranded, with no stated weight, no sourcing information and no way to tell one grade from another. There was no reason for that to be true, other than that nobody had bothered.

So the standard we hold ourselves to is boring and checkable: every product states its net weight. Every ingredient is listed. Honey is raw and unpasteurised, and we say so rather than hiding it when a jar crystallises. And we describe what things have traditionally been used for — never what they will cure, because that is not a claim any food producer is entitled to make.
